Illini Christian Ministries Holiday Project: The Woman's Council is helping ICM in filling Christmas stockings for the children they serve, most are teenagers. They are asking for donations. Suggested items include: wrapped gum, candy, stickers, art supplies, sudoku/crossword games, travel size board games, lotions for girls, writch watches, other small items that can fit in stockings, and gift cards (i.e. Walmart, Target, Old Navy - please no Kmart, some families can't access these stores - McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Subway, O'Charleys, Family Christian Bookstore, Berean Bookstore, Barnes and Noble, Borders). A box for stocking stuffers is in the foyer. Please have donations by Sunday, November 7th so deliveries can be made. Any questions, see Corinne Brown.
 
Mission of Hope: If you would like to help Steve and Vicky Schnebly in filling a truck full of new items for Mission of Hope, here are some suggestions: school items (e.g. crayons, pencils, notebooks, undergarments, clothing, etc.) and many other items (books, craft kits, photo albums, new toys, sports equipment, games, swimming pools, slip 'n slides, fishing poles, etc.) can now be purchased at reduced prices! Hygiene items are always needed. Everything will be distributed at Christmastime through school systems in Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
 
Steve and Vicki Schnebly are collecting General Mills box tops, and UPC codes from Campbell's products and My Coke reward codes from Coca-Cola products for the Lakota Indian Children at St. Joseph's School in Chamberlain, SD. There is a basket on the table in the foyer for those items.
 
Operation Sleighbell: We have been asked to donate 200 pairs of new socks (or as many as we can) of all types and sizes by the first week in November. There will be a box in the foyer for the socks.
 
W.O.W. Starting This Wednesdsay! Classes will be held for our Worship on Wednesday program for children age 3 through 6th grade. Youth groups will be held for junior high (led by Doug and Julie Higgins) and high school (led by Tim and Bonnie Hoke). There will be a light supper served to the kids at 6 PM. Classes are from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Also, an adult class is offered during W.O.W. by Chuck and Mary Werner to answer the "Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How" questions that arise from the Bible.

HOMEWARD BOUND CONCERT: Sunday, September 19th a concert featuring Homeward Bound will be held in Pells Park Pavilion beginning at 5 PM. We are asking for donations of chocolate chip cookies; please sign up in the foyer to donate. The concert is free, but a love offering will be taken.
 
"Let not your heart be troubled..." New Class Starts Sept. 12th: The study, Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World, is a DVD-based study that will show us that with the power and love of Almighty God, we can live with confidence in this age of turmoil. There is a particant's guide that will cost $8. The class will meet in the room next to he church office. Led by Beth Carman and Mary Nimon.
 
Gift Bags for Shut-ins: The Women's Council is sponsoring a holiday project that will prepare gift bags for our shut-ins and nursing home residents. W.O.W. classes will decorate the bags. Monetary donations are needed. A box for donations is in the foyer. Please make any donations by Sunday, November 7th so deliveries can be made. If you have any questions, contact Corinne Brown.
 
Men's breakfast: we will start up again this Saturday, the 11th at 7:30 AM.
 
Prayer Time: We have started a prayer time during the worsip service. If you have a prayer request, please write it on the special card in the rack on the back of the pews and hand it to one of the servers at the end of the pew during offering. These names will be added to the bulletin and newsletter UNLESS we are asked not to make the name public.
 
Donuts for Coffee Time: If you have volunteered to pick up the donuts at the IGA for coffee time, please pick up a Purchase Order from the office before going to the IGA. After bringing hte donuts to church, please leave the receipt in the office.
